Hiring The Best Kitchener SEO Company

A large number of companies in the Kitchener-Waterloo area contact me on a weekly basis that have no idea what they should be asking Advanced Web Solutions to do in regards to SEO.  That opens them up to being taken advantage of by lesser SEO companies.

The number one question that I should be receiving from prospective SEO clients in order to pare down their options is, ‘What is your most important SEO technique?’

Most SEO companies will fumble their way through this question with a lot of verbiage to clutter your mind and take you off track.  Of course they will talk about this, that and the other; and yes, all aspects of SEO work together, but the most important element, in 2014, of SEO is content – and the proper development, creation & implementation of it.

Of course, simply writing a bunch of content and saying that is SEO isn’t true.  The proper ‘how’ is why a Kitchener SEO company such as Advanced Web Solutions exists.

In order to narrow down if what an SEO service provider is saying is a bunch of smoke & mirrors chatter or solid SEO speak, is to ask them to provide you with a sample of a client’s monthly SEO report.  Most competitive SEO reports I’ve seen are a jumble of industry information and a smattering of what they did over the past time period.  Things such as Article Submissions- 20; Directory Submissions: 25; Deep Linking- 10; Blog Posting- 5; etc.

Most times the weight that they put on these elements is WAY too high for an effective, competitive SEO campaign and are more likely to hurt you long term.  But what do they care?  They’ll be long gone by that time.  An SEO company should be able to tell you exactly what a ‘Deep Link’ is, WHERE it is, WHAT info is linked and WHERE it is linked from.  Then be able to answer WHY to all of those questions and those answers should hold up to Google’s ideology of what SEO should be.

An even quicker way to make a judgement call on their claims is to note the ratio of fluff to work done within the monthly report.

I recently sat with a client who showed me their SEO report from the Yellow Pages/Mediative.  It was 3 pages of agenda (news, SEO chatter, etc.), a page and a half of charts (which is fine but from my trained eye was just filler) and one 2”x2” block of exactly the type of garbage I noted above.  This client was paying around $2000/mth, getting an okay return on their SEO investment, but not what they could be getting.

In a latter SEO blog entry I’ll speak a little more in depth about reporting and what you should expect.  Check out my 8 part series on what you should expect from the SEO service provider who is looking after your campaign.
