Using a free blog service, such as BlogSpot.com, is of very little value to a business and its Search Engine Optimization efforts to push its website to the top of various Google searches for various products and/or services that it offers.
When you utilize a free blogging service such as BlogSpot.com you are actually using a sub-domain that belongs to them. Essentially you are building content for them, not yourself.
Search Engine Optimization determines the relevancy of each page of your website. By taking into account 200+ items on each webpage, Google provides the answers to user’s queries in order of importance. Since a key element of SEO is content (properly written, titled, fresh, etc.), why would you pass along all your SEO hard work to someone else?
Building a blog on your own site is quite easy and is something that every business SHOULD have on their website – so long as they use it. I’ve seen some incredible results with building content via a business blog. Recently we built a SEO campaign focusing proper SEO and optimizing a customer’s blog. Within 3 months our customer snagged a new client worth approximately $7500/mth PROFIT!!! You can imagine just how happy they were with us!
Alternatively, there is a technical way to minimize the damage that using a free blogging service can do to your ability to do proper SEO for your business website; but, it is MUCH more effective & less time consuming to simply incorporate it into your own website and then properly optimize it.
