Successful SEO Company Claims

I love coming across customers who have a web design company doing their SEO.  Generally I get to laugh until it hurts.  Unfortunately, the real hurt is to the company that they’ve ‘helped’.

The instance that has specifically sparked my rant today is a company in BC (I would link to them, but I don’t want them to get any SEO credit from my quality site) that had all sort of claims to their SEO proficiency.  The first thing I always look at is three of their meta data points to see how much time and effort was given to this.

Meta Title: twice as long as it should be, so-so in quality

Meta Description: solid quality, perfect length

Meta Keywords: let the laughing begin… they had 823 keywords!!

Headers: no H1, no H2, H3 was okay, four H4’s but they had nothing to do with the topic of their SEO page

If you have done any sort of reading in regards to SEO on our website you’ll know that meta keywords haven’t been a factor in SEO rankings for a LONG time and Google NEVER took into consideration that many.  Not even close.  They only missed on their number by about 800!!!
